After the current DRAAT tourny is done and maap v6 (or maybe a bugfix after release) is out, we are exploring if there is any interest in a maap pack tourny.

We understand that alot of the maps, for lack of a better word, are bad... that's why only 4 or 5 or so of the nice polished maps are being considered for play.

Those maps are...

Pipeline: The new one is very heavy, but lowering settings turns off alot of the special effects. The destructable security cams should be interesting. Roof access has been removed.



Square: I've fixed the bug that made the enemy look like friendlies Smile



Shipment: CoD4's shipment map.



Urban Assault SE: Hopefully you guys like this map when it comes out. I was thinking of changing the UAV behavior for competitive play. I was thinking of putting the access point inside the enemy's stryker (by their spawn) and when you enter, the door closes behind you, trapping you in. So if your team wants the benefit of UAV intelligence, they'll have to sacrafice something. Smile



PBall: A fast-paced CQB type map. The obj I think is to simply kill the enemy Razz

But we may include others if there is demand for them.

I think it will be interesting seeing teams play maps that neither them or the opposing team know, so there will probably be alot of different styles of play being used. As far as experience in maps and competition goes, this maap tourny is about as level of a playing field as you're gonna get.

lol. me and jaq talked about it... we both dont exactly like that maap pack... think its kinda dumb. like what they do is great and all, but they are just taking away the people that would/should be playing on the main game. and to be honest... you give me UT 3/4 and i could do that same thing. but no hate. all love (no homo)

If you're good with UnrealEd and want a map on 2.5, simply create it on the 2.8 editor and I'll port it down to 2.5 so maap pack ain't dumb anymore Cool

i don't like that editor. i've used it, made some maps and made some changes to maps. but ut 3/4 has more/better features, easier to work with and has more textures and designs to work with.

You get them by downloading 2.5 Assist -> http://25assist.com and choosing to install the maap pack on the main menu.

2.5 Assist will take care of PB updates, maap updates, all kinds of good stuff.

Haha, Thanks Cwunk, but in that meantime, I will be thinking if we would still be participating or not.
We are not going into the tournament right now, because I ain't having no time. BUT WE WILL BE ACTIVE SOON. Plus yes, we are active, I just gotta finish up my work. Then I'll be playing. *with a smiley*

Happy to see you guys are considering it.

The tourny will be running the revised version of these maps... we understand that with no matter the resources, its impossible to get everything 100% right on the first try (that's why say... you can get on top of West obj roof on Urban). But that's why we need you guys - the players, to test the maps, tell us what you like, what you don't like... and if we get a bunch of the same responses like "Take away frags on Shipment" (something we're going to do anyway), then in the next revision, there will be no frags.

So give them a run, both so you know what you're getting yourselves into, and to help us make the maps the best that they can be.

Some things already being changed in next version:
- Pipeline: Redo spawning system. Truck spawning is cool as hell but if it can't work 100%, then we won't do it.
- Urban Assault SE: Fix cosmetic changes, lower UAV camera so the wing doesn't get in the way.
- Shipment: Change op4 skin, take away frags, possibly weapon change to M16.

On intel macs, you need to boot into Windows to play A*A period.

Shipment is a really simple map so you could prob run that faster than normal maps.

But here's how to get XP running on your mac:

1. Download XP here -> http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/26096/WXPVOL_EN.iso
2. Burn like so... -> http://vimeo.com/3948220 (The filename is different but process is the same)
3. Run though Boot Camp Assistant in /Applications/Utilities

Just don't run any updates or try to install any goodies from Microsoft, I don't think it passes Windows Genuine thingy.

I finally got it working. The backlighting wouldn't turn off, so that took some figuring out. I got AA3 as well... do you guys play that? It seems HARD. I'm noob all over again....

aa3 is not worth getting. its a good game, but it should not be Americas Army. they should of sold it to EA and made a lot more money. the game play in it sucks, the everything just sucks. its just a flat out suck. but like jaq always say *with a smiley*
